Cyrus Mistry is the upcomming Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Tata Group. He emerged as the only consensus choice with the backing of current chairman Ratan Tata and Pallonji Mistry as Tata Group's search for a successor entered the final lap. Born on July 4, 1968 Cyrus Pallonji Mistry is the younger son of Irish businessman, Pallonji Mistry. Mistry graduated from the Imperial College, London with a BE in civil engineering and holds a master of science in management from the London Business School.
Mistry will work with Ratan Tata for one year and take over in December 2012. Right Now he is director on the board of several other companies, including Shapoorji Pallonji & Co, Forbes Gokak, Afcons Infrastructure and United Motors (India).
Several factors are said to have worked in Cyrus Mistry's favour: his age; the fact that his family holds the largest single equity block of 18.4% (outside of the Trusts) in Tata Sons; the tradition of every chairman of the group so far being a Parsi; his chemistry with Ratan Tata; his understated style; strong operational experience combined with financial acumen; and his Indian-cum-international outlook.
